In 1929, when our country was entering the great depression, Blair Coiner founded his company with high hopes, perseverance, and determination. He started by selling auto parts to car dealers, service stations and garages. A Model T 1-ton truck ran a sales route from Winchester, VA into North Carolina, “rendering dealer service of the highest character at all times.”
In 1933, the company offered a “door-to-door” service with a fleet of 6 specially constructed trucks that carried hundreds of parts and offered mobile machine shop services. Our salesmen traveled delivery routes that kept them out for up to a week at a time, servicing remote rural areas where replacement parts were hard to come by.
By 1941, the company had grown to 18 employees and serviced approximately 800 “wholesale only” accounts. Training and education were extremely important, even then, to providing quality service. Employees and customers loaded onto buses for trips to manufacturer’s facilities for up-to-date training.
After growing to 60 stores and 300 employees, Coiner Parts changed its name to Fisher Auto Parts in 1983. Art Fisher continued the company’s dedication to providing the professional installer with quality service that was second to none. Coupler - The part of the trailer tongue that secures to the tow vehicle hitch ball.
Gross Towing Weight (GTW) - The weight of the trailer plus all the cargo in it. This is measured by putting a fully loaded trailer on a scale.
Hitch Application - In the industry, hitches are commonly called "hitch applications". This would refer to the specific hitch that would fit your specific vehicle.
Hitch Ball - The part that the trailer coupler attaches to. It is usually attached to a ball mount, which is inserted into the receiver end of a hitch.
Hitch Shank Hole - The diameter of the opening in the ball mount for the hitch ball shank to go through. The hitch ball shank diameter and the ball mounts shank hole diameter should match.
Hitch Tube Cover - The receiver end cap that fits over the 1-1/4" or 2" receiver end of a hitch. Designed to protect the end from the elements and to give the hitch a finished look. There are many designer or logo covers available to enhance the look of your vehicle.
Pin & Clip - The pin & clip are very important as they secure the receiver and the hitch or hitch accessory. The pin rests in the shank hole of the receiver and the clip fits over the head of the pin.

Power Stroke History
The Power Stroke® Diesel story began in 1982 when the Ford Motor Company made a decision that would transform their Super Duty® pickups into the most highly regarded and hottest-selling trucks in America. In pursuit of a whole new level of durability, power, torque, and capabilities, Ford partnered with International Truck and Engine Corporation or ITEC (later re-named Navistar, Incorporated) to create a new standard in diesel engine technology that would help redefine the industry.
That first power plant, the 6.9L Indirect Injection (IDI) engine, featured a modest 170 HP and 315 lb-ft of torque. The truck world eagerly greeted that very first Power Stroke® diesel. Not long after, came the next generation Ford Super Duty truck with the amazing 7.3L IDI diesel engine, produced from 1988-1993.
1994 - 2003 The First Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel —The Legendary 7.3L.
In 1994, the 7.3L diesel engine was reborn. This groundbreaking new power plant revolutionized the diesel truck industry, with not just the addition of an all-new turbocharged, Direct Injection (DI), an incredible new power, but the birth of the Power Stroke® name. 7.3L features included a wastegate turbocharger, HUEI fuel injectors, and an air-to-air intercooler. The 7.3L engines were an instant hit in the trucking world. Production ran non-stop through early 2003. By that time, this engine's performance and durability had made the Power Stroke® name a legend among truckers.
Diesel Power Magazine ranked the 7.3L one of the top ten diesel engines ever produced. Today, over two million 7.3L engine-equipped Ford Trucks are still in operation – more than Chevrolet, GMC, and Dodge diesel, combined. During its 9-year production run, the 7.3L was widely acknowledged as a leader in diesel engine technology.
2003 - 2007 A New 6.0L Power Stroke® Clears The Air
In 2003, the next-generation 6.0L Power Stroke® introduced Ford Truck customers to a new engine with more power and lower emissions than the 7.3L. With its variable geometry turbocharger technology, exhaust gas recirculation system and advanced, second-generation fuel injection system, the new 6.0L was a groundbreaking engineering breakthrough. The result was a major increase in engine horsepower and torque (325 HP and 570 lb-ft), even with a drastic reduction in engine displacement. This was the first engine design driven by emissions requirements.

DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE TRUCK SERVICE
Our Gainesville drivers depend on their diesel trucks and the Duramax diesel in their Chevy or GMC pickup and our diesel technicians keep them running at peak performance by making sure we have their maintenance done on time. The Duramax diesel engine has been consistently improved by Chevrolet / GMC over the last couple of decades and is fairly bulletproof. This diesel engine by GM is nothing short of a spectacularly powerful, reliable power plant for its line of pickup trucks. Since its conception, Duramax has been an innovative and respected brand, with over 1.5 million engines produced in the United States and some of the toughest engines on the market today.
The 6.6-liter Duramax Engines is produced by DMAX, a joint venture between GM and Isuzu in Moraine, Ohio first released in late 2001 replacing the old 6.5-L Detroit built engine. GM was the first to make this jump and it gave GM an added advantage in the diesel truck market. The Duramax Engine utilized the new Bosch Common Rail Fuel system. The early fuel systems included an ECM (Engine Control Module), CP3 Injection pump, FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module), and injectors all of which we are familiar with and work on here at Terry's Automotive & Qwik Lube.
The later version fuel system did away with the FICM and utilize a CP4 injection pump. The Duramax Engine had some issues but they extended the warranty on the injectors to 200,000 miles due to failures that were widespread and there were a lot of diesel trucks in the shop to fix the issue. Changing the injectors on the LB7 Duramax Engines was time-consuming since they were located under the valve cover. The premature injector failure was actually a result of air bubbles in the fuel line. They accumulated in the CP3 pump so when the injector went to fire, the bubble would get between the injector plunger and the injector tip. With the bubble there, the injector plunger had no fluid damping when it comes into contact with the injector tip causing a small gap to form over time. Once that gap grows large enough fuel is allowed to flow through continuously since the rail is pressurized so high. The computer system was unable to determine if this is happening so the check engine light would not notify the driver. The only way to determine if this was happening was to measure the return fuel flow rate.
